State of Alaska: Modernizing Dividend Applications
Saige partnered with the Alaska Department of Revenue to modernize its legacy Dividend Application Information System (DAIS), which was hampered by manual processes and inefficiencies. Using cloud-native architecture, Saige introduced AI, automation, fraud prevention capabilities, and an improved user interface. The transformation is enhancing operational efficiency, reducing application delays, and setting a new standard for digital service delivery in state government.
Challenge
The Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program, a cornerstone of the state’s commitment to its residents, was hindered by an outdated Dividend Application Information System (DAIS). The legacy system relied heavily on manual processes, lacked efficient troubleshooting capabilities, and offered a suboptimal user experience. These limitations led to application backlogs, increased administrative burdens, and delayed distributions, affecting over 630,000 eligible Alaskans.
Solution
Through a competitive selection process, the DOR partnered with Saige Consulting to overhaul the DAIS. Leveraging Saige’s proprietary CivicBridge framework, the initiative aimed to
- Develop a cloud-native, AI-driven application system
- Automate manual workflows to reduce processing times
- Enhance fraud prevention measures
- Modernize the user interface for improved accessibility
- Streamline communications between the DOR and applicants
Results
- Operational Efficiency: Significant cost savings through automation and reduced manual workloads
- Enhanced User Experience: A more intuitive and accessible application process for residents
- Improved Accuracy: AI-driven validations to ensure accurate and timely distributions
- Scalability: A robust system capable of adapting to future technological advancements and increased demand
